You can use PinYin to type Chinese Characters on a computer. To type a Chinese character, you type out its sound according to Pinyin. For example, you can type the name of China's capital with the word "Beijing. Contratry to what a lot of peopel think, Chinese don't use a Chinese keyboard.

They use the IME input method editor to type Chinese. Just try to type something on ChineseInput. It is often used to teach Standard Mandarin, which is normally written using Chinese characters.
