Used autopilot installation
You may click Refresh to verify your VM or device has been added. After few minutes, we see the device that we imported but the profile status shows as Updating.
You must wait for few more minutes here until you see the profile status as Not Assigned. In addition, you can also hit the sync button and confirm if the sync is successful or not. When you create a Autopilot deployment profile it requires a device group and we will create it now. Click Members and add the Autopilot VM to the group. Hit Select and then create the group.
Let convert all targeted devices to Autopilot be set to No. Click Next. To keep it simple I am not going to change any values here and go with following default values. On the Assignments page, Select groups to include. Click the Windows Autopilot Lab group, and then click Select. Click Next to continue. The status updates from Updating to Assigned. If you see the status as Assigned, proceed with next step.
Before you proceed ensure the following prerequisites are met. On the Welcome screen, enter Azure Active Directory credentials and on the next screen enter the password for the account. In order to secure this device, setup a PIN. The PIN that you specify here must be 6 characters long.
Click OK. The device should show up in Intune as an enabled Autopilot device. They achieve great accuracy because, instead of mechanical fast-spinning gyros, they make use of digital attitude sensors, which also account for their reliability. With no mechanical parts in the sensor system, modern digital autopilots are far less likely to fail than their predecessors. Garmin and Avidyne introduced autopilots that have safety features unheard of 25 years ago in light planes, including envelope protection to keep the plane from going outside the normal margins of flight unless, that is, the pilot directly commands that maneuver.
And it does it even when the autopilot is turned off. The effect is an autopilot that helps prevent the most prevalent type of fatal accident in GA: loss of control. Dynon, along with EAA, started the ball rolling about a year and a half ago when it got approval for owners of certain light planes to put the previously Experimental-only EFIS D10A right in the panel of their Skyhawks.
Since that time, the ball has picked up speed, with Garmin introducing a pair of primary flight instruments, the G5 attitude indicator and G5 HSI, both of which were formerly for amateur-built planes. Then, just a few months ago, a bevy of autopilot approvals came through, including blockbuster announcements by Garmin and Genesys of next-gen digital autopilots that will allow owners of even older, less-valuable planes to equip with high-quality digital auto-flight systems.
The Garmin GI is the most noteworthy. An upgrade to the somewhat limited G5 display, the GI does much more, including allowing you to control the autopilot through the display. There are also new flat-panel solutions for existing planes from Dynon and Garmin, though your autopilot choices depend on which display system you go with, so sure to make informed decisions when the time comes.
With new capabilities and a great price point, the new S-TEC autopilot leapfrogs its predecessors. The file also must be encoded as ANSI. On the ribbon, click Create and then click Create Device Collection. Limiting collection : Click Browse and select All Systems. You can optionally choose to use an alternative collection for the limiting collection.
The device to be upgraded must be running the ConfigMgr agent in the collection that you select. See the following examples. The next procedure requires a boot image for Windows 10 or later.
Boot Image : Click Browse and select a Windows 10 boot image or later. Select the Partition and format the target computer before installing the operating system checkbox. Select or clear Configure task sequence for use with BitLocker checkbox. This is optional. Product Key and Server licensing mode : Optionally enter a product key and server licensing mode. Randomly generate the local administrator password and disable the account on all support platforms recommended : Optional.
Click Next , and then on the Configure Network page choose Join a workgroup and specify a name ex: workgroup next to Workgroup. The Autopilot for existing devices task sequence will run the Prepare Windows for capture action which uses the System Preparation Tool sysprep. This action will fail if the target machine is joined to a domain.
To fix this issue, please see Windows Autopilot - known issues. Click Next , and then click Next again to accept the default settings on the Install Configuration Manager page. On the Include Updates page, choose one of the three available options. This selection is optional. Click Next , confirm settings, click Next , and then click Close. Change the group Name from New Group to Autopilot for existing devices config. Click Add , point to General , then click Run Command-line.
They send you an overhauled replacement usually within a few days , and then you send them back your core. Note that they may charge you the core charge up front what your core is worth and refund you the core value once they receive it and confirm that it is rebuildable.
So, if you ran it over with your car, get real! This makes sense if you fly frequently. Having your unit overhauled weeks will be a little less. This would be a good thing to do at annual time! As I mentioned, I recently had an inquiry from an aircraft owner asking my advice on installing a used autopilot. I also discovered a member on our forum who was considering installing a used Century IIB in his plane. He did and abandoned the idea.
I did the same. This is what I found. Century Flights Systems. Century will issue you a new STC specific to your aircraft to install a used autopilot.
The STC will be issued to your aircraft and the specific part numbers required will be listed. They did not specify any additional requirements, which concerns me.
Servo mounting trays are basic to the install and used ones that have been removed from an airplane are not normally treated with respect and may have an integrity issue.
Uninstallers can be hard on wiring harnesses so they may be suspect. S-TEC has a much tougher policy. It requires that the aircraft owner purchase a new installation kit for the autopilot being installed. The kit includes all new bracketing and a new harness and includes the STC but at what price?
