James I'm sorry for the delay in my reply, I've been away and was busy setting up a new branch so been very busy. I have given it much thought, and I've decided I would like to try and use Windows Small Business Server standard with the premium add-on.
Since they want to run both Active Directory and Exchange on the same machine, its the only way I can think of to make it happen. They're also already on sbs so it might make the migration easier.
I don't fully understand, if someone can perhaps elaborate on those two points I would Highly appreciate it. I understand your concerns; Be that as it may I have very little to no choice, so I'm working with what I've got, and at the moment I only have this forum so I ask as much as I can. Phillip and Larry thanks for the response I understand it fully now. I've decided not to go with sbs and I'm going with R2 std instead and then just buy the server products I need additionally.
I will probably start commencing the upgrades and migrations in the next two weeks. I'm still doing research and getting my checklists in place. The Microsoft documentation is very informative, so hopefully I won't run into too many problems.
Thanks to everyone helping me, I will keep you guys updated if I have further questions or need assistance. Office Office Exchange Server. Not an IT pro? Resources for IT Professionals. Sign in.
