The good thing is that we have two of each of the modifiers that we use that way. Then once you know which one is stuck you can toggle it off with the other one. I think that Right-Ctrl- actually gets "stuck" more often than Shift- for me. The power saver was making that if the keyboard was unused for 8 seconds it would stop the usb to work until you use the keyboard again The problem was that the power saver ditects long press as no action and would turn off the keyboard, and Windows will still thinks the the key is pressed.

You need to set the power saving off for the specific USB that you want to turn off, because somehow turning it off globaly doesn't works. That's a great reply, and the most coherent explanation of the issue I've yet seen. Thanks for not saying maybe your keys are stuck! I have this issue too when going out from Windows 7, mainly with AltGr, which is extensively used in non-English layouts. I can only test it with a server right now. It seems to be timing-related. When the connection is over something slower than an intranet, the press and release events of the modifier keys go out of sequence.

This is a serious problem with password entry fields. The same thing happens with AltGr, and if I wait some seconds before pressing and after releasing it, the problem does not appear. Of course productivity goes down, as many frequent characters need AltGr in my layout.

I might just be browsing the web and then I hit 's' when I am typing a url and then boom, search pops up. Very annoying. I fix this by hitting the win key Doesn't seem to have to do with the hardness of the strike. I had this exact same problem on Windows 8. I found and fixed the problem. If you have "Start Menu 8" installed, download the latest version.

I had this same issue, drove me crazy for weeks, finally figure out it was an app I had installed to replace the Windows 8 start menu called "Classic Start", after uninstall it all was well again. I would have assume this was the same issue people were having with start menu 8 app. I haven't tried install the latest version of either, thanks.
